Approximately fifty students in 1st – 4th grades participated in the event. They were provided with aluminum foil, legos, string, and a rock and given an hour to build a structure of their choice. Each child was interviewed by an adult judge and was evaluated on the originality of their project, their attention to detail, their use of the provided materials, their enthusiasm, their reason for participation, and their oral presentation.

The students were very creative and built everything from homes and hospitals to robots and waterfalls. The top three place winners were girls who received plaques with their names and gift cards for Toys R Us. The first place winner was a first grader who constructed a children’s hospital.
